Black Widow: Scarlett Johansson Slams Disney’s ‘Misogynistic Attack’ Amidst Lawsuit

Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson slammed Disney’s demand to move the lawsuit to arbitration.

Recently, amidst the public battle between Scarlett Johansson and Disney over the dual theatrical/at-home release for Marvel Studios’ Black Widow, Disney filed a motion to move the lawsuit to closed-door arbitration. Well, it appears that Scarlett Johansson and her legal team have responded to Disney’s motion.

Scarlett Johansson’s lawsuit went public on July 29, 2021. The Academy Award-nominated actress sued Disney with the claim that the company breached its contract regarding the release of Black Widow, in which an exclusive theatrical run was guaranteed. The actress’ salary was also in part, tied to the film’s box office performance. Disney opted with the dual theatrical/at-home release strategy, making the film available to Disney Plus subscribers through Premier Access at $29.99.

It sounds like the public battle between Scarlett Johansson and Disney will continue, and it appears that the Black Widow star’s legal team isn’t afraid to fire back at the comcontent. In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Directed by Cate Shortland from a script written by Eric Pearson based on a story by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson, the Marvel film stars Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, O-T Fagbenle, Ray Winstone, Olivier Richters, and Rachel Weisz.
