The rights to make Thomas Vinterberg’s film Another round which also received the Oscars for the best international film seems to have been acquired by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davidson’s Appian way in an auction. The content will be fully financed by Endeavor Content and Makeready.
This exclusively sought-after project just made the entire thing very delightful. If that’s not all, the film director’s real issue was to see DiCaprio in the role of a middle-aged vulnerable man in a terrible existential crisis.
The film will be produced by Appian Way’s DiCaprio and Davisson, and Brad Weston and Negin Salmasi for Makeready, and Endeavor Content. Appian Way’s Mike Hampton will shepherd the project. A writer will be immediately hired to accelerate the process.
Like each film this too has a personal story. The director’s daughter Ida was supposed to play a certain role in the film, to be honest the daughter of the protagonist. Mads Mikkelsen, but she passed away in a car accident just four days into filming.
The film won BAFTA and many other honors, and Vinterberg was also Oscar nominated in the Best Director category.
Vinterberg, who wrote the film with Tobias Lindholm under the title Druk, will be executive producer of the remake along with Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Kasper Dissing.
Another round involves four teacher friends who decided to experiment with raising their blood alcohol level, as a way to make life more and more engaging and interesting. Well as things are with alcohol and alcoholism, things start to get out of hand. The central theme here is not the evils of alcohol consumption; it’s about the individual choices made and how these choices impact the near and dear ones of these individuals.
The perspective one may get is that of a European in midlife crisis and the constraints that accompany it . And an English language remake would be very engaging to watch.
