House of Gucci directed by Sir Ridley Scott, has certainly left a bad taste for the Gucci’s who have claimed the film to be an utter disgrace with complete disregard for the actual facts. The Gucci family has criticized the casting calling it a disappointment and improper in nature, the head of the family even remarked that a line has been crossed.
Privacy is being violated in the name of profits, if that’s not enough even the cinematographer of House of Gucci Dariusz Wolski has compared the film to a Soap opera, this certainly has left a lot of people baffled. Aldo Gucci, the famous fashion icon who played an important role in making the brand a stellar success internationally, is being played by the legendary Al Pacino, but it seems the family is sorely disappointed at the fact that how ugly he looks on screen.
While Paolo Gucci played by Jared Leto is being slammed viciously by the family for his inaccurate portrayal of the character. Calling it ugly and unwatchable. While the film unfurls the mystery behind the murder of Maurizio Gucci, by his wife who hired a hitman to murder him.
The film now in its post production phase is waiting to be released but either way it’s controversial reception by the Gucci family certainly doubts the credibility of the story.
Some have claimed the inclusion of Lady Gaga as offensive because of our insensitivity to style. And the Gucci family here is no exception, they have expressed vehement opposition to Gaga being casted as Patrizia Reggiani. That being said, it is expected to be a good watch.
However, the controversy surrounding it is definitely not doing any good to uplift the already damaged reputation of the film, including the severe criticism of Lady Gaga and Al Pacino, and Jared Leto which is enough for the humble spectator to think twice. And if that’s not at all. The apparent dissatisfaction of the Gucci family over the entire thing isn’t making anything better anytime sooner.
The structure of the film in accordance with its class, the tendency of the family to picture itself as fashionable and well dressed. Is something that’s making the situation more complex. It’s damaging the reputation of the famed director for this inaccurate and sensational portrayal of the Gucci families’ apparent secret.
The film is sensationalizing a certain element, if this works out well, for us normal people it may just be a good thing as many would be interested to watch. However the context and content will be something that many are waiting to see! If it doesn’t deliver any results then might as well the speculation is right.
